Do You Get On Well With Your Siblings?

Noel Gallagher states the reason for Oasis splitting up is the relationship he has with his brother Liam. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/aug…
I am an only child and find the sibling relationships of my friends fascinating..I hate it when they fall out and am often the one to try and get them to make peace. I have in my time peeled the hands of my best mate from around her sisters throat ..lol.
It’s the longest relationship most of us have..I dunno I just think if you have a brother or sister you are lucky!
Am I naive?

I’ve had a rocky relationship with my sister over the years. She frequently falls out with me over the slightest thing. She wasn’t shy at resorting to physical attacks when I was a teenager. I remember wearing hot coffee a few times. If she doesn’t get her way a tantrum is sure to follow.
She’s older than I am and I think that I may have been an unwelcome arrival, though apparently she used to be keen on me when I was a baby. I think it was when I turned into a boy that it started to go wrong.
There’s just no way that we would ever be able to form a band! So I think the Gallagher’s did well to get that far.
We do have a better relationship now, though a lot of that is based on my efforts to bite my tongue and avoid situations that I know will set her off on one. It may sound mean, but I would love to have been an only child.
Edit. I feel bad now. I have to remember the fact that I do actually love my sister, it’s just hard at times. She got ripped off buying a car once and I really wanted to go a have a serious altercation with the seller. so it’s not all gloom.

i fought a lot with the youngest of the brothers we laugh about it now…my older sister is eleven years older and my younger sister is five years younger and we all fought the same…but they both have stronger personalities and i had the stronger physical strength…
they are better with words but i kick azz better LOL…aaaah the younger years..

My biggest humdingers and easy make ups have always been with the same sibling…my twin sister. Now I love having a big family but the inadequacy I felt against my sportier and more mentally balanced ‘other’ half riddled me for years….it is only now we have a good relationship and we still flare up against each other from time to time…she is my bestest mate in the world though, we couldn’t be more different physically but the same mentally if we tried… :)
    Edit – I sound a bit like Hypocrite’s sister…I was a bit of an evil one…

Yes i do. I have 2 sisters and although we are totally different they are there for me 100% as I am for them. i can honestly say we have never fallen out.
    I am lucky.
my mum hasnt spoken to her only brother for 20 years, i think that had an effect on my relationship with my sisters. none of us want to be like that.

I have 2 sisters 8 brothers. we are very very close and speak weekly to each other. we see each other as often as we can. we take a week trip every 2 years together. Yes we are loving to each other.
My husband family 5 sisters 5 brothers are NOT close. they never call
each other and they never see each other. if they talk its maybe only ib 5 years.
    I ask him why?????????????

unfortunately my siblings and i have been brought up to compete against eachother in every aspect of life, which doesn’t lead to a friendly relationship e.g. if i was in any sort of trouble or serious illness the last person on earth i would contact would be my brother!

Sometimes my younger brother and I get on really well and have a laugh, but sometimes we fight and hurt each other. It depends how long we’ve been in the same room, after a while we get on each others nerves and start bickering.

I have to say,I’m an only child too..and fiind the whole sibling thing quite perplexing!
Like you…I’m usually the voice of reason when mates and their sisters fall out.
They should consider themselves lucky,I say!

i don’t really get on with my brothers. i mean, its just the way siblings are. we know each other so well it is impossible not to get under each others skin.

I only have one sister but we do not really get along. We tolerate one another for my father’s sake but never see each other unless its at his house.

I have one younger sister, Only 18 months younger than me. We were closer, when we were younger. We still get on, but you couldn`t call us close.
I always wanted a brother, particularly an older one. You just get the feeling that they would look out for you.
I have always moaned to my parents, as to why they didn`t have more children. My mum is the only girl of 6 brothers. One of whom died as a child. Even, my grandmother agrees with me that they should have had more offspring. Lol.
I think it must be difficult to be an only child. All your parent`s expectations falling on you.
I love Oasis, and i reckon Liam and Noel, love each other deep down. Maybe their volatile relationship, makes for their great music. xx.

I am one of 6, I’m the eldest. 2 of them are “half” siblings but I love them as much as my others but I don’t live with them.
The ones I live with are my sister, 18 (the petite pretty blonde haired blue eyed one!) and my 6ft beanpole 15 yr old bro and my 4ft7 short@rsed 12 brother.
Then there’s my 3yr old bro and my 6month old sister who don’t come into it really!
My sister and I argue constantly, one argument resulted in her stabbing me with a fork. I still have the scar… She’s suddenly my best friend because she’s just turned 18 and skint so feels it’s my job to pay for her drinks… Pfft. She tealeafs everything of mine including my beloved clarins foundation which I saved for!!
My 15 yr old bro is a genius intellectually and comedy wise. We clash because he is a gobby one (can’t think where he gets it from) whose favourite arguing technique is to trump on you. Foul child!! Which results in me lobbing the nearest object at his big fat head which I can’t miss it’s so big. Which results in him and me chasing each other around the house and my mum having a breakdown. I should remember my age but he’s taller than me… So he should know better.
Also, he nicks my skincare products!!
Then my short brother is a pain who I love but fail to get on with at the best of times. He has a case of little man syndrome…
Despite our arguments, we all love each other and are there when we need each other.
It’s a funny thing having siblings.
Btw, not naive but it’s like any relationship with ppl you are constantly with, your flaws are highlighted and you clash due to spending so much time with each other!
